Property deeds from Chicago and Cook County are available from 1871 to the present. Everything prior to 1871 was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire, although some deeds were refiled by property owners after the fire occurred. There are 23 categories of deeds available: Assignment of Beneficial Interest, Assignment of Mortgage, Assignment of Rents, Affidavit, Agreement for Deed, Certificate of Purchase, Certificate of Redemption, Certificate of Sale, Sheriff’s Deed, Trustee’s Deed, Judge’s Deed, Deed in Trust, Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure, Executor’s Deed, Mechanic’s Lien, Lis Pendens Notice, Mortgage, Quit Claim Deed, Release Deed, Trust Deed, Tax Deed, Special Warranty Deed and Warranty Deed.
Fee Schedule via Recorder of Deeds office per document number:
Certified Copies: $20 for the first two pages, plus $2 for any additional pages (example: 4 pages of one deed would be $24)
Non-Certified Copies: $10 for the first two pages, plus $1 for any additional pages (example: 4 pages of one deed would be $12)
