Death Certificates, Chicago, 1878-1947

I can obtain copies of Chicago death certificates, 1878-1947, at the local Family History Center on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Turnaround time is usually 0-3 days, depending on when you submit your request.

I print the records from microfilm and scan the paper copies at 300 dpi to create a digital image. Then I rotate and crop the jpgs. (I’m happy to adjust the brightness/contrast, but I don’t do that unless you ask me to so that you can be sure no information was accidentally lost in the process.)

Please note:

—Extracted information (no images) for Illinois, Deaths and Stillbirths, 1916-1947 ( is available at FamilySearch. I can get the corresponding images for Chicago records. Provider mollykennedy can get the corresponding images for any entry in the index.
