Update: I now reside in Chicago. I will perform lookups on a semi-monthly basis. If you desire a lookup before that time please contact me, and we can work out a plan that works for you.
The Joliet Public Library has newspapers available starting with the year 1846. However, prior to 1900 obituaries are very few and far between. Possible information you may learn from an obituary are any siblings names (surviving or deceased), parents names, a woman’s maiden name, and place of burial. This is just not limited to death of Joliet residents. Residents of other townships appear. Obituaries may also appear from New Lenox, Frankfort, Mokena, Plainfield, Lockport, and Wilmington. Please keep in mind obituaries from the early 1900’s offer less information then the ones of today.
For an hourly fee I will locate as many obituaries as you request. I charge a minimum of one hour for the search. I will scan and send the obituaries upon arriving home. I will also include all documentation information in case you ever need to locate the obituary again.
