Delaware required civil registration of deaths beginning in 1913. The records become available after 40 years, therefore the records are currently available through 1970. A microfilm index must first be searched. When the death is located, the record can then be found on a different microfilm. A copy can be made for your records. Records are held at the Delaware Public Archives. I research there on a weekly basis. If a record is not found, the report will contain all years and counties searched. A recommendation will also be made for further research that may lead to a death record being found (such as a surrounding county location).
