Grantor (seller) and/or grantee (buyer) indexes must be searched for each county in Delaware to obtain the locations of the deed transactions for your ancestor. Not everyone owned land, or there could have been more than 20 land transactions in your ancestor’s past. Each deed transaction is considered a separate lookup. Records are held at the Delaware Public Archives. I research there on a weekly basis. If a record is not found, the report will contain all years and counties searched. A recommendation will also be made for further research that may lead to a land record being found (such as a surrounding county location).
