USA marriage records FOUND on Family Search

Description

At the Family History Library in Salt Lake City I will search the microfilm of your choice, for a marriage record indexed on Family Search.org.

Having a copy of the actual marriage record can be very valuable, especially in cases where the handwriting was difficult to read and was indexed incorrectly, as it was for my ancestor Miss WALLEY – indexed as NALLEY and MALLEY, on two different indexes.

You can expect a turnaround time of one week or less, unless there are unexpected problems.

Scanning microfilm documents is not as simple as scanning papers. There are a number of adjustments that may need to be made like straightening the page, zooming in or out, adjusting the focus, or brightness, or contrast.

Sometimes the page is bright in the center and dark in the corners. If scanned like it is, the corners are too dark to read when the center is right. If this is the case, I will provide two scanned images, one dark enough that the center can be read and the other light enough that the corners can be read.

Your scan will include the whole page. This way you will have all column headings and page numbers that appear on the page. You should be able to zoom in as needed to increase the size of the letters, using your photo editing software.

Because of copyright law, this offer is only for unpublished records like – court records, church records, and so on.

“Found” means the document was found for the name.

“Not found” means the document was not found

Please provide the names (first and last), location (county and state), date of marriage, and the Family History Library microfilm number, from the information found on FamilySearch.org.

To find out if your individual is indexed … go to FamilySearch.org. Click on “Historical Records” if it is not already selected. Then Put in your individual’s name and information. In the next screen, you may click on “Birth, Marriage, Death” on the lower left, to narrow the results. Click on your individual’s name., to see the “Source Film Number”. This is the number I need, to know which film to look on, at the FHL.

Note: If you see a little camera icon, the image is available “free” on the Family Search website, and there is no need to pay for my services.
