Jade Schmitt

Specializes In: Wisconsin B/D/M records pre-1907

About Me:

I recently received my BS in Athletic Training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am currently a certified athletic trainer. Despite the science-based major, I have always been interested in history, and would have studied anthropology had I not gotten into athletic training. I have been doing genealogy off and on since my uncle taught me how to work the microfilm machines when I was 12. The picture at left is me during a trip to find an ancestor's homestead in southeastern Wisconsin.

Genealogical Training, Certifications, or Society/Association Memberships:

I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Wisconsin Genealogical Society, the Brown County [WI] Historical Society, and the Howard-Suamico [WI] Historical Society.

FAQ for this lookup

Unfortunately, that is most likely the case. Vital records were not required in Wisconsin until the end of 1907. Anything before that was submitted of individuals' own free will. If you can't find something at first, I would encourage you to check as many name variations as you can think of (and make your search as generalized as possible), however, because there are quite a lot of transcription errors (between the records and the index) and misspellings in the records themselves.
