“I am looking for a death certificate and possible inquest for a death we think happened July 4 or 5 1961 or 1962. It was an apparent suicide and the individual was found in her car with something around her head and she suffocated. Her name was Betty Ann Bresler, m1 Morton Liss, m2 in Chicago William Bryant Downes III on 18 Jun 1960. She was from Minneapolis and the body was removed there for burial. I have checked the Cook County Deaths and she is not listed nor is she in the Chicago Death Index on Ancestry. I have not been able to find any article re: on Genealogy Bank or Newpaper Archives. Can you help?

As to the inquest - those records would only be available through the Coroner's office, in the county in which her death occurred. As to newspaper articles: I CAN search the microfilmed newspapers, if you'd like? Will need more info, as to whether to search Chicago newspapers, or suburban. As to the death certificate: it should be available either from the Co Clerk's office, (in the county where death occurred), or through IL Dept of Public Health.

For some reason I am not getting notified of your responses. I am going to make one last ditch effort to isolate the date of death through cemetery records. Then will touch base again. Susan

Can you get a 1948 Cook County death certificate as yet? Irene Richmond died 26 Nov 1948. Her death certificate number is 0034016.

Yes, I can obtain post-1947 death certificates issued anywhere in the state of Illinois - but as yet, I cannot offer this service through Genlighten.

Molly, I cannot thank you enough for helping me with the Ferguson Obits and especially for taking the time to give me the great tips. I did end up sending the $10 to ILL Health Dept from what little bit the cemetery was willing to give me. Claude Ferguson did die in Chicago in Dec 1962 so it will be interesting to see what I get back. I want to rate you as 5 stars but cannot figure out how to do it!! I am not real computer literate. Sorry. CeCe
