About Me
Please don't let the fact that I am only thirty-two years old fool you. I began researching my family when I was seventeen years old. At the time I was a junior in high school, and discovered a hobby that few my age were interested in.
Since that time I have become very passionate about genealogy. I've taken the knowledge I have gained researching my own ancestors, and help others find out about their own ancestry.
Research Services
I specialize in locating the following Cook and Will County records: vital records (birth, marriage, and death), naturalization records, probate records, cemeteries of the Joliet and Chicago Catholic Diocese, & obituaries that appeared in Joliet newspapers. I currently live in Chicago to attend school; however, I will be available to travel to Joliet weekly to perform lookups. I am also available custom research projects, tailored to client's research goals.
I am also beginning to offer limited research requests in Kankakee and Kane Counties. Please contact me with additional questions regarding available records.
Education/Training
I am a self taught genealogist, who has learned through researching my own family. I have fourteen years experience researching my own family, and eight years researching for others.

Having jolietgenealogy image the probate file was the best decision I could have made. The job was done quickly and well and in less time than I expected. If I had decided to do the work myself it would have been overwhelming due to the quantity of documents to be imaged. I'm very happy I made the decision to hire the work out.

My experience working with Steven exceeded my expectations by a mile. He communicated very clearly so that I always knew what to expect and what the status of my project was. I liked that he encouraged questions and was very flexible in setting up the tasks. The report I received was high quality, and was completed ahead of schedule. Even if he hadn't been able to locate the records I was looking for, this would have been a great experience. I'm looking forward to working with him again, and I highly recommend him to anyone needing help in the areas he covers.

Very thoughtful and dedicated researcher with excellent knowledge of the south side of Chicago and Will County. Communications were speedy and thorough. I'm hoping we can work together again soon.
Steven Wright is a master at what he does. For a number of years now, he has helped me uncover family and historical records I would have no idea how to find on my own. But his true brand comes from something far more important than even that: he is absorbed in the stories these records tell. With enthusiasm and spirit, Steven helps his clients piece together scraps and bits into the story of an ancestor's life. To me that's what distinguishes a true genealogist from a mere researcher.
Kate
Research Client
I hired Steven Wright to uncover information about not only family members but also individuals who previously owned the house I purchased last year. Steven traced ancestry, searched a multitude of records, assisted me with solving various research problems, and provided specific information I previously had difficulty finding. He performed research in a timely matter and for a reasonable fee while staying in contact and updating me as he worked. I was impressed by his vast knowledge of genealogy in general! I highly recommend Steven as he is professional, personable, and a diligent researcher. I plan to have him research my ancestors in the near future. Thank you!

I've known Steven for many years and he has done Genealogy research for my family. He's one of the most hard working, detailed-oriented, curious, persistent, and fair people that I know. I highly recommend him.
