    Lookup: Library Holdings in Oakland

    $50.00/record

    Description

This is intended to be a lookup for an individual who may be listed in a book held at a library. I will visit the requested library within the city of Oakland, CA, and view one or two holdings, primarily books, on your behalf. Depending on the policies of the repository, I will examine the holding, take photos of relevant pages and front-matter (using a recent model iPhone, or DSLR if you prefer), and upload those photos to you, via Genlighten. Front-matter will include Title page or any other page which may include relevant information for you to produce your own citation. If the library or archive doesn't allow any photographs, photocopies or scans may be necessary and are included, up to a reasonable number that would not violate copyright. If the repository does not allow scans, photos, or photocopies, and a transcription is required, this offering is not appropriate. Please contact me for more information.

    Ordering Instructions

You should provide the library name and location, call number of item, and page number if you have it, as well as any information about the individual in which you are interested, as well as your question, to help me choose the most appropriate pages to help you.

Kim was professional and prompt. We were required to conduct due diligence for a probate case. Kim went above and beyond to search for a record that proved a particular couple was legally married. Thank you!

Kim: Thank you so much for this information. The article was very surprising and amazing given the fact that I know that they were at some point divorced before the 1920 Census. What would I have to do to find that divorce? Were they announced in the newspapers back in that time? Thanks again for your findings. Linda

Fees for record retrievals should be paid in advance. California Clerk-Recorders require payment of fees regardless of whether or not they find the record. Sometimes two trips to a county clerk may be required, if a record isn't found or is housed off-site. If a record isn't found, a "Certification of No Record" will be issued, after a state health department search is completed. In such an event, that certificate will be sent to you.
In general, most record requests will be completed within 5-10 business days of confirmation of payment. Any questions should be submitted to me in advance of the work, so that I may get you your record as soon as possible, and to avoid any confusion about request. If additional research is required, your request will be declined, for you to complete said research before hiring me. Thank you.
