About Me
I love using my knowledge, expertise and creativity to help my clients find out more about their origins. Many of my clients have traced back their family tree a few generations and then got stuck. Some have heard stories in their family, that they may be related to a Mayflower passenger or a Revolutionary War soldier, but do not know how to find out whether or not this is true. And some have had empty branches lower down in their family tree, perhaps with an unknown parent or grandparent, and look for help using the modern tools of DNA testing to solve that mystery.
Research Services
I can help you break through your research brick walls, confirm family legends, prepare applications for lineage societies and provide one-on-one coaching and group instruction. Clients come to me with their hardest problems and I relish the challenge. I'm interested in hearing what problem you're trying to solve.

How to Hire rcweir for Your Genealogy Research Project
To request a no-obligation quote for a custom genealogical research project, click the red "Submit Research Request" button to the left.
To message the provider before ordering, click the brown "Ask a Question First" button.
I'm flexible. Every project is unique. As part of the initial conversation with clients I work to ensure we have common expectations for things such as scope of work, deliverable, time-frame, update frequency, etc.
Typically (and again, I am flexible), I do fixed rate for smaller projects, and time-plus-expenses for larger ones.
My usual deliverable is a report, either printed and send via Priority Mail, or PDF format via email (your choice), complete with analysis, document copies, citations, etc.
Standard disclaimer that I ask all clients to acknowledge:
It is important that you understand the risks involved. As a genealogist, I can only uncover the historical truth that the surviving records reveal, and use my expertise and knowledge to find and analyze those records in the most cost-effective way. But I cannot control what records survived or what that truth will be.

Rob is very knowledgeable about land use documentation and was able to track down a considerable amount of information in a short time but also helped me interpret it. I would absolutely recommend working with Rob.
